The campaign of Texas Senator John Cornyn took aim at Ken Paxton as the primary between the continues to heat up.
The latest clash began after Paxton said in a social media post that "Cornyn's career is done and everyone knows it."
"He's stolen $50+ million from races in NC, ME, MI, and GA and what does he have to show for it? He's stuck in the mid-20s, doesn't even know if he'll make the runoff, and is set to lose by huge margins even if he does," he added.

Paxton was making reference to a report by The New York Times claiming that some of the country's richest conservative donors have been sending tens of millions to save Cornyn's campaign ahead of next month's elections. Overall, Cornyn's allies have spent about $50 million since last July, a figure that has no precedent for a fourth-term incumbent running in a primary. The outlet added that Republican leaders in Washington are also seeking to stop Paxton's, fearing that his profile could increase the chances that Democrats flip the seat.
Cornyn's campaign reacted to Paxton's post with a jab of his own. "Ken, when this over, you will have nothing. Which turns out to be the same thing you offered to give Angela in divorce proceedings. This after you cheated on her multiple times," the publication reads.

Paxton's ex-wife, Angela, filed for divorce in July last year after 38 years of marriage. She cited "biblical grounds" to back her decision. Back then she said: "I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage. I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose"
The filing, submitted in Collin County, came less than two years after revelations during Ken Paxton's 2023 impeachment trial that included accusations of an extramarital affair and abuse of office, as Austin's KUT News points out. Paxton, who was ultimately acquitted by the Texas Senate, was accused of using his position to benefit Austin real estate investor Nate Paul, who allegedly helped secure employment for the woman with whom Paxton was having the alleged affair.
Former aides testified during the trial that the affair disrupted operations at the attorney general's office. Jeff Mateer, Paxton's former deputy, testified that he believed the official was "potentially subject to blackmail." Another former aide, Ryan Bangert, said Paxton "was acting like a man with a gun to his head."
RealClear Polling's average based on the latest surveys about the primary show Paxton with a 0.3% advantage over Cornyn.
