Republican Rep. Thomas Massie responded to President Donald Trump after he called him a "moron" at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.
"No matter what. If we did the greatest thing in history for religion. No matter what we did, how good it is. We just did the greatest tax cuts in history, he voted against it. This moron, no matter what it is," Trump said, referring to Massie.
"There's something wrong with him. We call him Rand Paul Jr. They love voting no. They think it's good politically, they guy is polling at about 9%," he added.
The President of the United States called me a moron at the National Prayer Breakfast this morning because I’m still fighting for what he promised the American people:Reduce big spending, DOGE, no new wars, end foreign aid, defend 1A 2A 4A, prolife, and expose sex traffickers. https://t.co/auezIY6xDw

Massie, on his end, replied on social media, saying "the President of the United States called me a moron at the National Prayer Breakfast this morning because I'm still fighting for what he promised the American people: Reduce big spending, DOGE, no new wars, end foreign aid, defend 1A 2A 4A, prolife, and expose sex traffickers."
The two Republicans have repeatedly clashed over the lawmaker's stance on different topics, including his initiative to push for the release of the Epstein files.
The last round also took place this week, when Trump took aim at Massie in a post on Truth Social, saying he "became a Liberal because his new wife, blessed be their marriage, is supposedly a Radical Left 'flamethrower'" and supported an electoral contender of his.
"This new union all went so fast that maybe he didn't know what he was getting into but, nevertheless, is an absolutely and unreliable 'Republican' — Perhaps a RINO, or maybe even worse! Ed Gallrein, a Farmer and War Hero, is running against Massie," Trump added.
He went on to describe Gallrein as a "HIGH QUALITY individual, and there is no Candidate for Congress that could be better." "He is running because he realizes Thomas Massie has been totally disloyal to the President of the United States, and the Republican Party. He never votes for us, he always goes with the Democrats. Thomas Massie is a Complete and Total Disaster, we must make sure he loses, BIG!"
Massie reacted on X, tying the criticism with his push to see the release of the Epstein files. "Maybe someone told him she's actually the one who suggested I ask Pam Bondi in person at a dinner when we would get Phase 2 of the Epstein files." "Bondi said there were no more files. As they say, the rest is history;" he added.
