In what’s shaping up to be the largest coaching staff in Pittsburgh Steelers history, Mike McCarthy has brought in yet another hire to the organization.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Steelers are set to hire former Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. as their new assistant head coach/secondary coach.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhitt brings over two decades of coaching experience to Pittsburgh, including tenures with the Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and Cowboys, in addition to his defensive coordinator stint with the Commanders from 2024–2025.
Former Steelers assistant head coach John Mitchell, who served in the role from 2007–2022, was the last to hold the job before he retired in February 2023.
